New Edwin Features: A New Way to Explore Edwin

The New Year is all about a fresh start. This year is a little different, yes … but we thought we’d give you a fresh new experience to help ring in 2022, wherever you are. You may have already noticed: When you choose to browse a single subject, these pages have come alive and are now full of options. We’ll explain these options and the thinking behind it—most of which has come from you, our community!

If you’re not yet using Edwin, you can use these resources and more with an Edwin Free Trial.

First, the obvious one: all of these pages now have background visuals that support student engagement and making connections with the subject. We’ve been hearing from students that they’d like to see more colour and visual elements in Edwin, so this is one way we’ve answered that call.

Second, on the left, the browse experience you’re familiar with is still there, with enhanced accessible text and clearer distinctions between Units and Sections. We continue to improve every aspect of the app to make it as accessible as possible.

Third, you can now easily find Collections related to a subject by scrolling through the categories on the right. Collections are great for finding projects, activities, current events, or lessons connected to big ideas, concepts, or skills. We’ve heard loud and clear that you love Collections, and just want to be able to find them more easily. So this is one way—and you can still find Collections that aren’t tied directly to a core subject in the usual spot.

And last, but definitely not least, especially to help you with planning: you can now click the Curriculum button at the top right and filter your searching by either a general or specific curriculum section. As our January theme is “start to finish,” you can plan with the end in mind using this new curriculum menu.

What’s next?

We hope you like this new way of getting around inside Edwin. The improvements don’t end here—we’re just getting started in 2022 and there’s a LOT more on the list…so keep telling us your hopes, dreams, likes, and dislikes, so we can continue to help support you and your students.
