Spotlight: Hour of Code
The Hour of Code is a global event running from December 6 to 12, 2021. Designed to promote computer science and give all students a chance to experience coding, The Hour of Code has multiple entry points for different grades and coding abilities. The Collections below are designed to support teachers who want to participate in this event.

Coding gives students the opportunity to use and develop their skills in communication, writing, math and problem-solving, while encouraging creativity and boosting self-confidence. In this activity, students will learn the basics of block-based coding using the online program Scratch. In under an hour, students will create an animated logo of their name using sequencing, events, and loops. Level: Basic | Copy Collection
In this activity, students will use block-based coding in the online program Scratch. In under an hour, students will create a number guessing game using variables, true/false expressions, if/then statements, and loops. Level: Moderate | Copy Collection
In this activity, students will use block-based coding in the online program Scratch. The entire activity takes about 1 ½ hours to complete due to its complexity. However, there is a natural break in the activity at about an hour. As students have access to the Edwin Slide Deck and links they may choose to continue the project to its conclusion on their own time. Level: Moderate | Copy Collection
